Raw data for ileal and colonic mucosal bacterial counts by bacterial FISH probe in healthy dogs and in IBD dogs following treatment with glucocorticoids.

The mucosal microbiota from endoscopic biopsies of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) dogs (n=8) and healthy controls (HC; n=15 dogs) was evaluated by fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) targeting the 16S rRNA genes of total bacteria and bacterial species using a seven probe array. We also used immunohistochemical (IHC) techniques to evaluate the impact of steroid therapy on mucosal apical junction protein (AJP) expression in dogs with IBD.
