This dataset supports a publication, "Catalytic Hydrogenolysis of Polyethylene Under Reactive Separation", in the journal ACS Catalysis which describes investigations of polymer hydrogenolysis under flowing gas, so that volatile products are allowed to escape from the reactor and are collected in a condenser. The dataset includes analytical data of hydrocarbon products from hydrogenolysis of polyethylene under reactive separations conditions.

Three data sets are included:

  1. Gas chromatography detected by Flame Ionization (GC-FID)
  2. Gas chromatography detected by Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS)
  3. Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) spectroscopy

Funding

The design, construction, and optimization of the semi-batch reactor was supported by Ames National Laboratory LDRD.

The catalytic studies were supported by the Institute for Cooperative Upcycling of Plastics (iCOUP), an Energy Frontier Research Center funded by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), Office of Basic Energy Sciences. Ames Laboratory is operated by Iowa State University under Contract DE-AC-02-07CH11358.
