This is an image dataset comprised of crown roots from 22 maize genotypes excavated from the soil at stages V6-V10 grown at the ISU Agricultural Engineering/Agronomy and Central Iowa Research Farm in Boone, Iowa on July 2022. After 7 days of air drying at room temperature, the crown roots were imaged using a Cannon DSLR camera. Images were saved in .jpg format and total 262 individual files. This dataset of field grown root systems can be leveraged to inform strategies for improved corn physiology.
