The files contain mitochondrial genome alignments, as well as cellular and whole-organism oxygen-consumption rates for garter snakes inhabiting Lassen County, California.

These data were collected using a Sable Systems Oxygen and Carbon Dioxide analyzer, an Agilent Seahorse XFe24 extracellular flux analyzer, and Illumina HiSeq 3000 sequencer.

These data support the analyses and results within the article "Mitochondria as central characters in a complex narrative: Linking genomics, energetics, pace-of-life, and aging in natural populations of garter snakes." This article is published in the journal Experimental Gerontology (Gangloff et al. 2020. Exp Geron 137: 110967. https://doi.org/10.1016/j.exger.2020.110967).
