README.txt file was created on 20190903 by Peter Spurgeon ----- GENERAL INFORMATION ----- 1. Data Title: Sulfur on Ag(110) 2. Data Abstract: This data contains low temperature STM images of sulfur on Ag(110). Data consist of images that contain unique features at two different sulfur coverages, 0.02 and 0.25 monolayers of sulfur. 3. Authors: Author: Peter M. DOI: 10.1039/C9CP01626K ----- FILE DIRECTORY ----- The data consist of three separate data sets where each data set is a separate experiment. Image 1-38 are of data set 1, 39-69 are of data set 2, and 70-102 are of data set 3. Images are labelled as Im#, # ranging from 1-102. Each image is of a different area except 72, 73, 97, and 98. Image 72 and 73 are of the same area but at opposite biases, and 97 and 98 are of the same area but at opposite biases. The Image # consist of the same image for all the files. 20 mML S, Sulfur Coverage Calculations Image #: Image used in the calculation. # of S adatoms: Number of small round protrusions counted in image. Unit Cell Area: Surface unit cell area of Ag(110), this was determined using the atomic spacing of the Ag unit cell and is in units of nm2. Constant for all images. Image Area: Total area of the image and is in units of nm2. Substrate Ag Atoms: Total number of Ag atoms in the substrate in image, calculation result from “Image Area” divided by “Unit Cell Area”. Coverage: Ratio of sulfur atoms to substrate Ag atoms in units of monolayers, calculation result from “# of S adatoms” divided by “Substrate Ag Atoms”. 250 mML S, Sulfur Coverage Calculations Image #: Image used in calculation. # of S adatoms: Number of smaller, round, and dimmer protrusions counted in image. # of Complexes: Number of larger bright protrusions counted in image. Total # of Sulfur: Total number of sulfur atoms in image, calculation result from “# of Complexes” multiplied by two and added to “ # of S adatoms”. Unit Cell Area: Surface unit cell area of Ag(110), this was determined using the atomic spacing of the Ag unit cell and is in units of nm2. Constant for all images. Image Area: Total area of the image and is in units of nm2 Substrate Ag Atoms: Total number of Ag atoms in the substrate in image, calculation result from “Image Area” divided by “Unit Cell Area”. Coverage: Ratio of sulfur atoms to substrate Ag atoms in units of monolayers, calculation result from “# of S adatoms” divided by “Substrate Ag Atoms”. FWHM of Complexes Image #: Image used in calculation. Bias: Bias voltage of the image. FWHM (1-1 0 direction): The full width at half-maximum (FWHM) of the curve in the line profile drawn across the complex in the 1 -1 0 direction in units of nm. FWHM (0 0 1 direction): The full width at half-maximum (FWHM) of the curve in the line profile drawn across the complex in the 0 0 1 direction in units of nm. Height of Complexes Image #: Image used in calculation. Bias: Bias voltage of the image. Height: The height of the curve in the line profile drawn across the complex in units of nm. Spacing of Complexes Image #: Image used in calculation. Length: The length of the row of complexes, in units of nm. # of units (n): The number of complexes counted in the row of complexes. n-1: Calculation results from subtracting one from “# of units (n)”. Spacing: The average spacing between the complexes in the row in units of nm, calculation results from “Length” divided by “n-1”. Spacing Between Ordered Sulfur Atoms at 250 mML Image #: Image used in calculation. Sulfur adatom spacing: Spacing of sulfur adatoms along the 1 -1 0 direction in a p(2x2) configuration, in units of nm. Sulfur Adatom Measurements Image #: Image used in calculation. Protrusion Height: The height of the curve in the line profile drawn across the protrusion in units of pm. Protrusion FWHM: The full width at half-maximum (FWHM) of the curve in the line profile drawn across the protrusion, in units of nm. ----- METHODS AND MATERIALS ----- ------- SOFTWARE ------- Image Processing Software Name: WSxM Version: 5.0 Development 8.0 System Requirements: Microsoft Windows operating system URL: http://www.wsxm.es/download.html Developer: Julio Gomez Gerrero & Jose Maria Gomez Rodriguez Additional Notes: ------- EQUIPMENT / SOFTWARE ------- Low Temperature Scanning Tunneling Microscope Manufacturer: Omicron Embedded Software/Firmware Name: SCALA PRO Embedded Software/Firmware Version: 4.1 Additional Notes: SCALA PRO has been discontinued since 2016
